Racism #?

June 12, 2008

Please nobody bother saying this isn’t racist.  The question seems to be whether it’s a serious advertisement or a racist joke.  Not sure it matters.  I hope the fact that the sales site says the “dolls” are temporarily out of stock doesn’t mean that a lot of people have bought them, but rather, that there was never more than one doll in the first place.

Just before I go to vomit, here’s what the people at thesockobama.com had to say about their, ahem, product:

Our objective is three fold:

1} Provide a cuddly toy for the millions of Obama fans to take a little piece of their favorite candidate home with them.
2} Have a means for children to become a part of the political process with a cuddly plush toy all their own.
3| Contribute a pivotal article of presidential election memoribilia.

After test marketing our product, we found a majority of our customer base finds our plush toy fun and loveable.

By virtue of our plush toy now temporarily out of stock, we’ve had to expedite a new order of inventory to meet the needs of our customers who want TheSockObama.

Oh Chribus, whether it’s a ghastly product or a ridiculous joke on the cyberworld, it’s racist as all hell.

  1. I’m afraid the site’s comments seem cruel and ironic. This is core racism.

Here’s a comforting thought I’m pretty sure is true: That sort of racism degrades a life. From the inside their lives feel lesser. They may not know that, but they are genuinely reduced.
